At St. John’s Lutheran Church, our children’s ministry is a vibrant and integral part of our congregation. We firmly believe that children are not only vital members of our church but also the heart of our future.

Emphasizing the importance of spiritual development, we dedicate ourselves to nurturing their faith journey. Our approach is family-centered, acknowledging that a child’s family plays a crucial role in fostering a personal relationship with Jesus, with our congregation providing essential support.

Our Beliefs

  • We believe that children are vital and valued members of our congregation.
  • We believe that the spiritual development of children is a priority.
  • We believe as members that it is important for us to support children’s ministry through prayer and resources.
  • We believe that the child’s family is the most important component in raising children who have a personal relationship with Jesus. The congregation is here to support that development by supporting the family and the child.

Ministry Goals

  • INTRODUCE children to the Gospel
  • MINISTER to their needs spiritually, socially, emotionally and physically
  • PRAY for them that they will…
  • ACCEPT Christ as their Savior
  • CONNECT them with other Christians
  • TRAIN them for a life-long relationship with Jesus Christ

Children’s Church

Children are encouraged to sit with their parents for the early part of the worship service. They are then dismissed by the Pastor to leave church with their Children’s Church leaders.

  • Children in Preschool, Kindergarten and First Grade meet in the Preschool Classroom.
  • Children in Second, Third and Fourth Grades meet in the Library/Computer Room.
  • Older children are dismissed by their teachers when church is over and may walk back to the church to meet their parents.

If you have younger children, please go to the Preschool Classroom to pick them up when church is over.

Vacation Bible School

Summer

Vacation Bible School is an awesome opportunity for us to share the Gospel with many kids from our Napa Community. Our goal each year is to open our doors to every child that wants to attend (Preschool-4th Grade).

With so many young kids to welcome on campus each summer we require a ton of volunteer help!

VBS at St. John’s can be an awesome way of using your gifts to serve God as you get to spend a week leading kids while having so much fun!

Trunk or Treat

Sunday before Halloween.

Trunk or Treat at St. John’s is a Christian twist on the traditional harvest festival, offering a safe and fun celebration for children.

Congregation members decorate their car trunks with friendly themes in the church parking lot, where kids enjoy dressing up and collecting treats. This event fosters community and faith, with families enjoying games, music, and fellowship.

It’s a memorable occasion that blends the excitement of the season with the warmth of our church community.
